General Information

This species is generally whiter with more parallel cross-lines than the similar Common Wave (C. exanthemata).

 

Pupates on or in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes come to light.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 15-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Downy Birch (Betula pubescens), Silver Birch (Betula pendula), Alder (Alnus glutinosa), sallows (Salix spp.)
Flying: Two generations, May-June and late July-August
