General Information

This species was first discovered in Essex in 1989 and has since become widespread and quite common.

 

The larvae produce a silvery mine on the upper side of a leaf.


Wingspan: 7-9 mm
Foodplant(s): pyracanthas (Pyracantha spp.), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Apple (Malus domestica)
Flying: Several overlapping generations, April-October
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common
