General Information

The pronounced emargination of the costa of the forewing of this species is characteristic although variable in depth. There are several forms with variable colouration. The species has recently been split into 1062 Acleris emargana and 1062a Acleris effractana.


Wingspan: 18-22 mm.
Foodplant(s): sallows (Salix spp.), poplars (Populus spp.), birches (Betula spp.)
Flying: One generation, July-September
UK Presence: Resident
