Six-belted Clearwing (Bembecia ichneumoniformis, ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775))

General Information
This species has six yellow bands on the abdomen and orange scales on tip of central bar of forewing which are diagnostic.

The larvae spend most of their time in the roots of the food plant.

Moth activity times: 8:00-18:30, peak 9:00-13:00.
Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Flies during the day

Forewing length: 9-12mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Bird's-foot-trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), Kidney Vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria), Horseshoe Vetch (possibly) (Hippocrepis comosa)

Coastal grassland, embankments, quarries, cliffs, etc, mainly chalk or limestone.
