General Information

This is one of three species (Marbled Minor, Rufous Minor and Tawny Marbled Minor), which can only be reliably separated by genital dissection.

 

Pupates amongst the roots of the foodplant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 11-13mm.
Foodplant(s): Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), Common Couch (Elytrigia repens), Reed Canary-grass (Phalaris arundinacea), grasses
Flying: One generation, late May-July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Grassland, fens, woodland, heathland, scrub and gardens.
