General Information

This moth has a tear-shaped elliptical mark on its forewing.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 15-18mm.
Foodplant(s): Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), grasses
Flying: One generation, late June - early August
UK Presence: Resident

Habitat

Open woodland, grassland, scrub, heathland and gardens.
