General Information

Forewing and hindwings of this species both have a prominent central black dot. The leading edge of the forewing is curved near the tip and the second cross-line beyond the black dot usually curves around it. The species is very variable in the intensity of the markings and there is also a dark form (f. fimbriolata).

 

Pupates in plant debris.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 10-11mm.

Flying: One generation, late June-late August

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland, conifer plantations, hedgerows and mature gardens.
