General Information

The forewing of this moth is brown with a small whitish spot at the tornus.

 

The larvae produce a long straight slender gallery which follow a series of 'S' turns. Frass and larva match the colour of leaf and tenanted mines can be hard to find.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: 5-6mm.
Foodplant(s): Purging Buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica)
Flying: Two generations, May-June and July-September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common
