General Information

This is a highly variable species with a reddish-brown ground colour with some lighter variation.

 

The angular projection of the median facia and lack of white head distinguish this from other similar species.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Wingspan: 16-24 mm.
Foodplant(s): fruit trees, deciduous trees
Flying: One generation, June-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Heathland, woodland, scrub, grassland, and gardens.
