General Information

This species resembles the more frequent Silver Y but has a more ornately-marked, light brown forewing with the central mark usually, but not always, broken into two.

Overwinters as Doesn't overwinter in the UK.
Both sexes come to light.
Often found feeding during day

Forewing length: 15-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Sea Rocket (Cakile maritima), Marigold (Calendula officinalis), hawkweeds (Hieracium spp.), Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), herbaceous plants
Flying: All year (mostly May-October)
UK Presence: Immigrant
