General Information
The blackish twin-spots are usually obvious on this species, but in some forms (f. immaculata) these are reduced to barely discernible rufous marks, or obsolete.

Pupates in loose soil.
Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 17-20mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), birches (Betula spp.), sallows (Salix spp.), Aspen (Populus tremula), Field Maple (Acer campestre), Ash (Fraxinus excelsior), honeysuckles (Lonicera spp.), Common Hop (Humulus lupulus), broadleaved trees, broadleaved shrubs
