This species is sexually dimorphic, the females being generally much larger and plainer in appearance than the males.

Wingspan: 25-46 mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Reed (Phragmites australis), Reed Sweet-grass (Glyceria maxima)
Flying: One generation, July-August
