This species has three fine cross lines which are diagnostic.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 15-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Greater Plantain (Plantago major), Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), knapweeds (Centaurea spp.), herbaceous plants
Flying: One generation, May-early July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Grassland, heathland, fens, open woodland, scrub and gardens.
