General Information

This species is generally darker than the Light Arches (A. lithoxylaea).

 

The early stages have not been recorded in the wild, but it is presumed that their life-cycle is the same as similar species.

Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 18-21mm.
Foodplant(s): grasses
Flying: One generation, June-July

Habitat

Grassland on chalky and limestone soils.
