This species is similar to the Marbled Brown but has a black crescent in the white area of the forewing.


Forewing length: 16-20mm.
Foodplant(s): Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur), Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea)
Flying: One generation, April-May
