General Information
This is the most widespread and frequent of the mochas.

Flies from dusk.

Pupates attached to a birch leaf.
Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 12-14mm.
Foodplant(s): Downy Birch (Betula pubescens), Silver Birch (Betula pendula)
Flying: Two generations, early May-late June and late July-end August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Local

Habitat

Heathland areas with birch, woodland and scrub.
