General Information

The females of this species are larger than the males. The moths resemble dried oak leaves when at rest.

 

Pupates in a cocoon attached to vegetation.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 28-42mm.
Foodplant(s): Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-August
UK Presence: Resident
